Digestive health services and procedures we offer

Based on your diagnostic results, we prepare a treatment plan personalized to your condition. Services may include lifestyle management advice, medication or surgery. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robot-assisted surgery. The procedures we offer include:

  • Laparoscopy — Examination of the abdominal organs using a tiny video camera
  • Lower GI endoscopies — Examination of the lower GI tract using a thin, flexible tube with a camera.
  • Upper GI endoscopies — Examination of the upper GI tract.

Advanced reflux treatments

Our GI specialists have several options for treating acid reflux (heartburn), its more severe form, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other reflux conditions. First, our GI doctors treat patients through lifestyle changes and medication. If the first course of the treatment proves ineffective, our experts help patients decide the best surgical options, like fundoplication surgery or bariatric surgery.

Pediatric gastroenterology

When your child has a tummy ache, it can cause concerns. And, when symptoms become chronic or affect your child's quality of life, advanced pediatric GI care may be needed. We have pediatric gastroenterology services available at Summerville Medical Center.

GI cancer screening

Our technologists use various tests, such as biopsies, colonoscopies and barium enemas (large intestine X-rays), to screen for GI cancer and, if found, to determine the type and stage.
